My new favorite snack

Anyone who is following my journey knows that I have been really focused on being more mindful about my nutrition after having Marin.  It isn't about dieting really but using my knowledge of nutrition to fuel my body with the right foods.  I realized that I was eating pretty big portions of foods that weren't optimal for my wellness, even though technically speaking they were "healthy."  This has led to me having so much more energy, and weight loss as a bonus.

This has been one of my favorite snacks!  It is so delicious and works as breakfast, an afternoon snack, or dessert if you are craving something after dinner.  It is so versatile too!  you can add the flavors you are craving and feel so satisfied afterwards.  I will give you the basics below, since it is an ever changing recipe based on what I feel like.

The base:

1 c of greek yogurt (I use kite hill plain greek or daiya greek yogurt)  Regular greek yogurt has so much protein even in 0% varieties.  These two vegan options are the highest protein content that I have found.

Additional protein and sweetness:

Based on what I want I sometimes add my superfood protein powder.  You can use protein powder of your choice, or I can provide you with more info on what I consider the best one :)  Adding this adds sweetness, so you don't have to add additional sweetener.

Flavors:

Extracts are perfect for adding flavor without sugar.  Vanilla, maple, almond or coconut are all awesome additions!

Add Ins:

For texture and additional goodness I add some of the following things based on my mood.

  • Berries
  • peaches
  • 1 tsp peanut butter
  • 1 tsp almond butter
  • 2 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 2 tbsp any nut or seed
  • 3 tbsp oats or granola
  • 1 scoop powdered peanut butter

Whip it up with a whisk until its thick and fluffy.  Enjoy!
